How often should men get haircuts?

The short answer: every 3-5 weeks. The real answer depends on your cut, your hair, and your standards.

The short answer

Every 3 to 5 weeks. That's the window most men should aim for.

But like most things, the short answer hides a lot of nuance. Let's break it down.

It depends on your cut

Fades and skin fades need the most maintenance. A fresh fade looks razor-sharp for about 10 days and starts looking grown-out by week 3. If you care about looking sharp, book every 2-3 weeks. We see our Bellflower clients who rock skin fades on a strict 14-day schedule — their cuts never look rough.

Classic tapers and scissor cuts are more forgiving. You can stretch these to 4-6 weeks and still look intentional.

Longer, textured styles can go 6-8 weeks between cuts. The growth blends in.

It depends on your hair

Hair grows about half an inch a month. If yours grows faster (some guys grow closer to an inch), you'll need to come in more often to keep the shape.

Hair texture matters too. Tight curls disguise growth better than straight hair, which shows every bit of extra length.

It depends on how sharp you want to look

If you're client-facing, on camera, or just like looking fresh, come in more often. If you work from home and nobody sees your hair, stretch it as long as you want.

Our take

For most guys in Bellflower: every 3 weeks if you have a fade, every 4-5 weeks if you don't. Book your next one before you leave the chair — it's the only way to stay consistent.
